After the success of the first album, and having so much fun performing with Andy and Leigh – Hetty and Sam decided to get together and create their second record. Named after a song written by the Big Band leader, Harry James, this record showcases twelve songs and captures the swinging sound of the band through a number of ballads, uptempo numbers and latin feels.
Hetty and Sam both spent many hours digging around their respective vinyl collections and brought a selection of unusual and little-sung standards to the table.. with Sam bringing ‘In A Little Spanish Town’, and Hetty finding ‘I Go For That’ and ‘The Bluest Kind Of Blue’. Even Andy was enthusiastic and championed the Judy Garland hit ‘Zing Went The Strings Of My Heart’ which was a perfect fit. Available as a hard copy (visit the online store) and from early 2012 on iTunes and CDBaby, you’re sure to enjoy this CD, it’s a perfect accompaniment to a lazy afternoon!

The idea for “A Late Brunch on Irwell Street” came upon Sam and Hetty at an outdoor cafe table, by the beach in St Kilda. They’d meet once a week to have brunch, catch up and talk about music and songs they loved.. also playing together regularly in various combo’s around town they realised they shared a similar passion for sweet old songs and loved performing with each other.. an album seemed the logical progression!
Andy Baylor and Leigh Barker, both good friends and swingin’ musicians in Melbourne played often with Sam as a trio and were the ideal choice to make up the foursome.. Hetty and Sam’s debut album was recorded ‘all in the one room’ live and easy over two rainy nights in November 2008 in a basement studio filled with vintage equipment and run by a great sound engineer.. Eight hours and ten songs later the record was hatched! The relaxed and fun feeling of the album winds it’s way through all the songs and has lead to airplay on ABC National and BBC Radio 2 in 2010, and spots at some fun Festivals in 2011.
